There is a reason our first meal of the day is called “break-fast”. The first bite of your day sets off a cascade of reactions in your beautiful bod. Make it a cascade of nourishment, not inflammation. Breakfast will be a nutritious balance of healthy fats (to nourish your hormones), fiber (to heal your gut), protein (to fuel your body) and complex carbohydrates (to give you energy). A balanced breakfast with these four pillars will keep your body, and mind, satisfied for hours.

Our goal for lunch is color and variety. This is the time of day that you want to flood your body with polyphenols, vitamins, minerals. How we do this is to aim to eat as many colors of the rainbow as possible.  We will fuel our body with quality protein, replenish our cells with vegetables and get the extra push we need for our workouts with complex carbohydrates.

The last meal of your day is designed to decrease inflammation, so that when you go to bed your body can focus on healing, growing and repairing overnight. Healthy fats and fresh ingredients are the aim of the game. A slightly lighter meal before bed gives you time to digest your food before beauty sleep so that you wakeup in the morning feeling energized and ready for your day.

Time spent on a retreat should be a retreat from responsibilities and worries- not the things you love! At La Luz Retreats we feature conscious cocktails, the boozy concoctions created by Shannon Rosie. We replace the frightening ingredients in most cocktail mixers with nutritious medicinal boosters. Each recipe is more delicious than the last, and if alcohol isn’t your thing, they make delicious mocktails as well!

 
 

INTUITIVE EATING

During this retreat we encourage you to learn to tune into to your bodies natural hunger cues.

Challenge yourself to listen to when in the day you are naturally hungrier, and when you are just eating because it is “ — time”.

Practicing what’s known as intuitive eating can be one of the most effective tools for incredible healthy change.

Every body is different, so living and eating in alignment with your body will help to make progress as natural and effortless as possible.

We are here to support you through this learning and healing process with whatever you may need so please do not hesitate to ask.
